Seasonal Business Disorder?
A friend of mine, a sales professional, is frustrated with the lack of focus in the people he’s been calling for the last few days.
“Everyone’s going through the season change – it’s like menopause for business.”
Everyone seems to be busy, scattered, and a little unfocused. I don’t know if they’re feeling mood swings as well, but it seems like a tough week to get people looking forward… or backward, or in any constructive direction.
Maybe it’s the kids going back to school soon, or the urge to cram activity into the last week of summer. Whatever is causing the distraction, it’s a bit frustrating when you’re trying to connect to get business done.
Perhaps this is a good time to plan ahead for what happens after the Labor Day weekend. Usually it’s a good time to get my clients looking forward. Their kids going back to school reminds them of the importance of learning new things, like applying web marketing to their businesses.
Some Opportunities Run Out
One of the reasons I’ve been reaching out this week is to tell business owners about training subsidies available to small businesses here in British Columbia. If you run a BC business with 2-50 employees, you may be eligible for a $5000 training grant for training staff. The program is presently only available until the end of the year, so it’s something you want to take action on promptly if your business may qualify. Email me or give me a call at 778-895-2311 and I’ll fill you in on what it takes to apply for the training subsidy for BC companies.
Of course, I think the training subsidy is a great opportunity to improve your business competitiveness, by taking my Web-Powered Marketing Training. It can also be used for other necessary training, and I’d be happy to help you learn more.
One Quarter of the Year Left
It’s also a good time to do a little goal setting/reviewing, and perhaps to look back at your new year’s resolutions. It’s not too late to make changes in 2010 – you still have a quarter of the year to make change happen.
What is the number one thing YOU want to learn or do, to help your business grow next month, and in the remainder of the year? Please post it in the comments!
